I have always referred myself as a "pack rat" that seems so much nicer of a word to me than a "hoarder." Now let me explain, although I have saved a lot of junk over the years, I am not quite the hoarder type like you see on tv where you can barely open the door, haven't seen your kitchen in years, have to step over stuff to sit on the couch, etc. Not that bad. But it needs some improving and I have begun to do just that. I have a long way to go but I have made an improvement. I have 10 bags out waiting for the trashman to come take them away on Tuesday, and so far I have 5 Goodwill bags. Go me.
I just decided if I don't ever look at this stuff, it needs to go bye bye. Some things I have to keep like old tax paperwork, important papers. It is sad I found so many cd's out of their cases, dvd jackets with no dvd's in them, stuff like that. I found a lot of old pictures.
I found my dad's wallet (that choked me up a bit). His wallet still has his driver's license in it, all of his old credit cards, and $7. It will remain that way. Everything I found pertaining to my dad I have to keep, I just HAVE to. There's not a lot but it will remain with me forever.
I found my class ring which I had thought I had lost many moons ago, I tried it on and it fit! I was a happy camper! I found a lot of my "super fat" clothes, they are being gotten rid of, except a few items I am keeping as reminders of my old unhealthy lifestyle.
I bought a new container for all of my shoes and for the most part all of them fit, except my Crocs. I have accumulated many pairs in different colors so they will have to have a space all of their own. Love my Crocs! Wish I could wear them to work, I would be one happy camper!
One thing I didn't find and have been searching for is a charm bracelet I had made several years ago, would love to find it and start wearing it again. I found some other jewelry that I had forgotten that I had.
I tell you, de-hoarding has led me to many treasures I didn't remember I had, and some much needed things that was time I threw away. Overall, I am proud of the start I made and it is much nicer to be in a bedroom where I can actually walk around the bed instead of trying to manuever around all the junk.
Don't call the Hoarding show on me just yet, Kazi is taking control! Stay tuned for more information later on this subject!
