Dumb Luck

Posting for Friday, September 6th, 2013

If it weren't for dumb/bad luck, I would have no luck at all.  After being sick in May, knock on wood from stress more than likely--with everything that has taken place in the last couple of months (for the better I might add) you would think I would be stressed the max.  I have been feeling well with a few minor issues.

Tuesday, the 3rd, I started hurting in my lower back.  Didn't give it much thought.  May be a bladder infection, but I didn't have any other bladder symptoms.  Still I wasn't worried too much about it.  Wednesday evening went to the grocery store after work, and walking through Walmart I was near tears because my back hurt THAT much.  I had even made the comment after loading things in the car to go home, if we didn't have so much stuff that needed to go into the fridge or freezer, I would go to St Mary's Convenient Care.  My mom knew I meant business then.

That night we ate Lean Cuisine dinners because I just couldnt stand any longer to cook a full out meal--my back felt like it was going to break in two.  When I went to bed that night, something hit me square in the face....oh no, hope it's not a kidney stone again.  I pushed that thought quickly out of my mind because I had some of the same symptoms of kidney stones but not all.

Thursday when I woke up I could barely move.  What has happened to my body.  Still wasn't sure whether kidney stones were doing this to me or what, but I knew when I got to work I was going to request to get an appointment at the clinic we have at Vectren when you are feeling sick.  I made my appt for 930 on my break and was going to make up my time on my lunch.

Went downstairs to the appointment, I literally walked down the stairs to test my pain level--it was off the freakin chart!  No more stairs I decided til we figured out what the heck was going on!  In the clinic they took my vitals, didn't have a fever, supposedly had blood in my urine (we will get back to the supposedly part), and they were convinced based on what I told them that I have NEVER been able to pass a kidney stone on my own they always have to be surgically removed--they agreed I needed to go to the ER.

Off I went to Deaconess Gateway, picking my mom up on the way.  The Dr there was sooo nice, and very thorough, Dr Stevenson.  We did a CT scan and voila no kidney stones, then they checked my pancreas and a few other things.  I had 3 shots of Morphine and some nausea meds and I was never knocked out.  Light headed yes, but full on sleeping no, which everyone found strange.  I keep telling people I am a medical mystery, maybe one day they will believe it!

The ER also wanted to do a urine test, there they found NO blood in the urine, where the clinic earlier supposedly (there's that word again) found blood in my urine.  Go figure, which one is accurate.  They told me I have something called muscoskeletal pain but don't know  how or why it started.  Hmmm.

They finally released me when my sister came to pick us up, to make sure I wasn't driving with all the Morphine in me.  Marilyn had to drive Sylvia for the first time and I was nauseous the entire ride home, had to stop and pick up a prescription for both pain and nausea and was so nauseous when I got home.  I tried to eat a bagel so I would have something in my tummy before laying down and trying to get some sleep.

I ate most of the bagel, took some meds, and within 4 minutes I was standing over the trashcan vomitting everything again.  Nothing worse than vomitting in my opinion.  Let my head hurt, or my stomach hurt just dont make me throw up.  That is my wish, it doesn't always happen that way though, such is life.  Sigh.

I went to lie down and maybe slept for 1 1/2 hours.  With as much meds as I had in me I was shocked that I didn't sleep for days.  I took some Phenergan and managed to sleep about 7 hours and then wide awake around 2:30 again.  Pain started coming back gradually, took some more medicine and didnt awake til 8.

Now for a followup appointment with my doctor today to see what the heck we can do about all of this, like make the pain go away, yea that would be nice.  Please and thank you!  Let's pray for a miracle....a BIG one!
